Steven Ciobo said in a statement on Tuesday that the recent removal of sanctions against Tehran has created commercial opportunities between the two nations and that Canberra is willing to re-open its trade office in the Islamic Republic, Reuters reported.

Mining equipment, technology and services and agricultural commodities were cited as potential areas of trade in the statement.

The remarks come as Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is paying an official visit to Australia as part of his 11-day tour of Southeast Asia and Oceania.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, Zarif earlier visited five other countries, including Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, and New Zealand.
